The “Monopoly on Current Affairs” platform will never be the same

The days of Twitter plagued as being anti-free speech, ad-revenue centric, and a centralized influencer engine will be a thing of the past.

The freewheeling twitter of old will return as a hybrid.

Here are 3 events that will happen:

1. A Bidding War to Control the Voice of Influencers will Begin

Musk buys 9.2%, offers to buy the company — Vanguard swoops in to buy 10.3%

Twitter shares will consolidate into the hands of the few as more powerful institutions realize their voice may be seized by a central power.

Someone will buy Twitter but it will be a battle — 41 Billion USD for such an influential platform is really not much for the rich and powerful.

2. Micro Twitter is Coming

Content moderation should happen at the micro-level rather than the platform level.

Twitter becoming a decentralized protocol will turn the service into many micro Twitter communities each with its own rules on what can be said and what cannot be at a category level.

Twitter’s decentral Bluesky program can make this happen.

3. A Tangible Twitter Built for the Creator Economy

Twitter consolidating into the hands of the few means monetization plans need to accelerate.

Today Twitter makes 90% of its funds from ad revenue and has no tangible product for the creator economy.

It’s time for Twitter to create a product class for creators to be creative right on Twitter itself.

These events:

  • Safeguard Twitter’s future by reducing the dangers of ad-centric models
  • Give more power to the user’s over their followers
  • Diversify moderation based on category

Twitter will never be the same again.
